The Center on Hunger and Poverty focuses on hunger and food insecurity, promoting policies that improve the lives of low-income children and families. Activities include research and policy analysis, public education initiatives, and assistance to policy makers and organizations across the country on poverty- and hunger-related issues.

Childhood Hunger: Myths and Realities from America’s Second Harvest refutes common misconceptions about childhood hunger. See also Policies and Politics of Hunger for statements on Child Nutrition Reauthorization, the Child and Adult Food Program (CACFP) and the CARE Act.

In 2004, the Center on Hunger and Poverty and FRAC issued a report examining the The Paradox of Hunger and Obesity in America. This report addressed the relationship between hunger, food insecurity and obesity and concludes that a lack of sufficient food resources can contribute to weight gain.
